Thornbury Castle Wedding Photography
Wow, Thornbury Castle what a great venue to host a wedding. I was chuffed to get an opportunity to photograph a wedding at this 500 year old building just outside Bristol.
When it comes to choosing a wedding venue, hotels and stately homes are all popular choices, but it’s always nice to look at somewhere a bit different. Thornbury Castle is one of those places, with History oozing the Tudor décor to the vineyards.
Kelly and Rob were another of those relaxed couples that I seem to attract. They were pretty easy going from the start, with a small ceremony focused on, family their aim was to hold an intimate wedding and it was a real privilege to be part of it. From the bridal preparation to the first dance the family welcomed me in as if I was a guest.
As a photographer my priorities are to take pictures that the bride and groom will be pleased with and to capture all of the moments from the wedding without intruding or distracting from the wedding itself. We’ve all been to weddings where the photographer steals the bride and groom away from their guests to take couple portraits. Yes, I think that these portrait sessions are important and they’re certainly something that the couple will enjoy seeing in their album, but the portraits shouldn’t be too much of a distraction from the fun of the wedding and its guests.
At Kelly & Rob’s wedding I managed to get in some portraits of the two of them without stealing them away for too long, which meant that they could enjoy spending time with the other guests, taking advantage of the medieval style games, including as Archery on the lawn.
